Punjab Introduces New Pricing System for Food Items and Tightens Market Inspections

Punjab has introduced a new pricing mechanism for vegetables, fruits, greens, meat and milk to ensure essential food items are sold at official rates. The Qeemat App has been upgraded, requiring price control magistrates to share their live location and upload selfies during inspections to prevent fake entries. Inspections have also been banned between 10pm and 5am. The performance of 1,635 magistrates was reviewed, alongside inspections, fines, arrests and shop closures recorded from 2023 to August 2026.

Pakistan Raises Record $3 Billion Eurobond

Pakistan has raised a record $3 billion through its largest-ever international capital market transaction. The dual-tranche Eurobond sale attracted nearly $6 billion in orders. It comprises a $1.75 billion, 5.5-year bond carrying a 7.5% coupon and a $1.25 billion, 10-year bond at 7.9%. The Finance Ministry said the strong demand reflected investor interest in Pakistan’s debt. The country’s most expensive previous Eurobond was issued more than a decade ago at an 8.25% interest rate.

Saudi Arabia Raises $3.25 Billion Through Sukuk

Saudi Arabia has raised $3.25 billion through a two-tranche sale of US dollar-denominated sukuk, marking its second debt issuance this year. The offering included $1.25 billion in five-year sukuk and $2 billion in 10-year sukuk, priced at 70 and 80 basis points above US Treasuries. Investor demand exceeded $15 billion, highlighting strong interest in Saudi debt. The kingdom will use the proceeds to meet general domestic budgetary requirements.

Government Expands Financial Support for SMEs

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable, private sector-led and export-driven growth. Speaking at an agreement-signing ceremony, he welcomed a reinsurance partnership between ICIEC and Pak EXIM Bank and a Rs3 billion SME risk-pool agreement involving the Export Development Fund.
