Government Raises Rs51,800 crores Through Treasury Bills as Yields Approach 12%

The government raised Rs518 billion through treasury bill auctions and non-competitive bids, with the highest cut-off yield reaching nearly 12%. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, investors submitted bids worth Rs2.192 trillion, while Rs237.6 billion was accepted through the auction. For the first time, non-competitive bids generated a higher amount of Rs280.3 billion. Provincial governments may have driven the unusual increase, with bids for three-month treasury bills reportedly reaching Rs200 billion.

Pakistan Raises Record $3 Billion Eurobond

Pakistan has raised a record $3 billion through its largest-ever international capital market transaction. The dual-tranche Eurobond sale attracted nearly $6 billion in orders. It comprises a $1.75 billion, 5.5-year bond carrying a 7.5% coupon and a $1.25 billion, 10-year bond at 7.9%. The Finance Ministry said the strong demand reflected investor interest in Pakistan’s debt. The country’s most expensive previous Eurobond was issued more than a decade ago at an 8.25% interest rate.

Saudi Arabia Raises $3.25 Billion Through Sukuk

Saudi Arabia has raised $3.25 billion through a two-tranche sale of US dollar-denominated sukuk, marking its second debt issuance this year. The offering included $1.25 billion in five-year sukuk and $2 billion in 10-year sukuk, priced at 70 and 80 basis points above US Treasuries. Investor demand exceeded $15 billion, highlighting strong interest in Saudi debt. The kingdom will use the proceeds to meet general domestic budgetary requirements.

Government Expands Financial Support for SMEs

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable, private sector-led and export-driven growth. Speaking at an agreement-signing ceremony, he welcomed a reinsurance partnership between ICIEC and Pak EXIM Bank and a Rs3 billion SME risk-pool agreement involving the Export Development Fund.
