The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has conditionally approved the controversial Integrated System Plan 2025–35, proposing nearly $58 billion in power generation and transmission investment over 11 years. The 45-page decision includes more than 12 pages of dissenting and separate advisory notes from all three members, including the NEPRA chairman. Members questioned the criteria for including or excluding major projects and raised concerns over bypassing the Council of Common Interests, the constitutional forum responsible for national energy policy and planning.

Pakistan is advancing a major 105-kilometre railway project to connect the country’s vast Thar coal reserves with the national rail network. The new rail link is expected to improve the transportation of locally produced coal to power plants and industrial centres. By replacing costlier road transport with rail freight, the project could reduce logistics expenses, strengthen domestic coal supply chains and improve Pakistan’s energy security. The initiative is also expected to support greater utilisation of indigenous energy resources and reduce reliance on imported fuels.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority has launched its dedicated mobile application, KPRA Sahulat, on the Google Play Store. The free Android app provides citizens, taxpayers and businesses with digital access to essential sales tax services. Users can verify invoices through QR codes, report suspicious receipts, calculate sales tax and access Schedule-II rates offline. The app also features a live tax calendar, business verification through NTN, complaint tracking, official notifications and taxpayer guides, supporting greater transparency and easier tax compliance across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
