Goods transporters have urged the government not to involve them in political affairs by impounding trucks and containers ahead of PTI’s planned long march to Islamabad. The All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association said police had detained vehicles for five consecutive days. Around 500 container vehicles were reportedly seized from Sangjani, I-9, Sihala and Tarnol. Many were carrying commercial, industrial and export-bound cargo worth billions of rupees, raising concerns about potential losses for traders, manufacturers and other businesses.

Traders have expressed serious concern over repeated petroleum price increases and their impact on inflation, urging the federal government to control fuel rates. Muhammad Ismail Lalpuriya, spokesperson for the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran and All City Traders Ittehad, criticised the government for citing higher global prices while refusing to reduce the petroleum levy. He demanded the levy’s abolition and lower fuel prices. He also called for action against businesses using fuel costs to justify excessive increases in transport fares and food prices.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has conditionally approved the controversial Integrated System Plan 2025–35, proposing nearly $58 billion in power generation and transmission investment over 11 years. The 45-page decision includes more than 12 pages of dissenting and separate advisory notes from all three members, including the NEPRA chairman. Members questioned the criteria for including or excluding major projects and raised concerns over bypassing the Council of Common Interests, the constitutional forum responsible for national energy policy and planning.
