Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Target $3bn Food Trade

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to increase Pakistani agricultural and food exports to the Kingdom to as much as $3 billion. Rice, red meat, fruits, concentrates, green fodder and water-efficient agricultural technologies were identified as priority sectors. Saudi Arabia also expressed interest in gradually doubling red-meat imports from Pakistan. In 2025, Pakistan supplied the Saudi market with approximately 169,000 tonnes of rice worth $163 million and 30,000 tonnes of red meat valued at around $167 million.

Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Trade Ties Strengthen

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have signed multiple agreements to strengthen cooperation in trade, security, education, environment and technology. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov witnessed the signing ceremony. The accords cover transit trade, extradition, scientific research, virtual assets and blockchain technologies. Both countries also approved a 2026–2027 diplomatic cooperation programme and agreements between strategic research institutes and business chambers. Lahore and Kyrgyzstan’s Osh will establish a sister-city relationship, supporting deeper cultural, commercial and institutional ties between the two countries.

Pakistan, Uzbekistan Target $2 Billion Trade

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have set a target to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion over the next five years. Direct air connectivity is also expected to expand to nine weekly flights by October 2026. The announcement was made during Uzbekistan’s 35th Independence Day reception in Islamabad, attended by Energy Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari. The Uzbek ambassador described the proposed Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway as a vital project for strengthening regional trade, connectivity and strategic cooperation.

Pakistan and Belgium Strengthen Maritime Ties

Pakistan and Belgium have agreed to deepen maritime cooperation through stronger institutional coordination, student training and exchange programmes. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Belgian Ambassador Idesbald Van der Gracht and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry. Discussions also covered Pakistan’s plans to expand and modernize its port infrastructure. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening institutional ties and identifying practical opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector.
